I have a Diploma of Teaching and a degree, Bachelor of Education. I am a Commissioner of Declarations. I progressed through the principal ranks. I served as a principal in small country schools, regional high schools, secondary departments until I earned final principal posting of my city school (830 kids) here in Gladstone where I still live. Throughout my principal's career I kept close to my classrooms and teachers. I saw some great relief teachers and some who just struggled through their days, not for the want of trying. After 38 years with Education Queensland I retired from full time work in 2010. During that time I taught in every classroom from Prep through to Year 12.

Moving forwards my interest and hands on experience with classic cars came with the territory. Working on so many different models from cars with Side Valve Engines to Jaguars, Morris Marinas and above all the Mercedes Classic W123 series. These cars became a passion of mine because of the sheer beauty of the design and build quality. I specialized in the models and as you will see, I own a beautiful Classic W123 to this day. The car in question and many other Classic W123s have had a considerable amount of work carried out on them by me.

Professionally, Dr. Jonell Kirby Cash served on the editorial board of the Journal for Specialists in Group Work and as an advisory editor for The Individual Psychologist; she was a member of the Commission on Higher Education of the North Central Accreditation Association, and a consultant to overseas workshops in Portugal, Australia, Brazil, Egypt and England. It all started when my school counselor asked me if I wanted to help tutor a peer of mine with homework. I gladly volunteered and agreed to the opportunity to help a classmate out for 30 minutes after school. Then by word of mouth, I soon began to tutor other students and their siblings at the age of 12. That same year, my piano instructor asked me to help her out when her schedule was booked to capacity, and I soon took on the new beginner students. To find myself working with other students well, and with the parents paying for my instruction services at a reasonable rate, I began to give private sessions for the violin/piano & school tutoring at home. Luckily, my mother handled my busy schedule that year & showed me how to manage. It wasn't until I scored high on my APs, Regents and SAT exams, that I began to tutor the advanced subjects and test prep. After I went to college in New York City, I continued to tutor and instruct students musically and academically. After getting accepted into Columbia's College of Dental Medicine, I realized that I was not as passionate about the profession as I had once desired, and while I was finding myself, I was admitted into another medical school, and soon realized the same thing. While I enjoy helping people and working in the medical professions, I found my passion in Education. Helping students achieve their goals of getting admitted into best-fit colleges and beyond inspires me to continue doing what I do now. Being involved with various extracurricular/community activities have allowed me to develop & pursue skills/experiences that fortunately, have allowed me to professionally help mentor and guide my students through their educational paths.
